Aggius is one of the most characteristic towns in
Gallura:
it is at the foot of the granitic mountain
called La Croce and the Monte Sozza.
Here in Aggius
is famous the traditional art of carpets
made in natural colors and wool from sardinian
seeps.
There
is a typical historical centre
with little nice houses made with granite
bricks and narrow streets made with granite stones.
An important Ethnografic Museum is in the centre
of the town near the main Churches
of Santa Vittoria and Santa Croce ,dated
1709.
The
beauty of the territory offers to the lovers of
hiking many opportunities
for long walkings among luxuriant woods of
oak trees of the Capitza park and granite rocks on
the road which lead to Aggius Mountains. From
there you can reach the
famous Moon Valley where the rocks have
very strange shapes and the trees are bent by the
north-west wind.
From
the Moon Valley you will reach the ancient Nuraghe
Izzana ,one of the best preserved in Gallura;
following the main road, direction Trinitą, you
can get the Church of San Pietro di Ruda and from
there, Agriturismo Vintura!
